About Adjua Starks
Adjua Starks has nearly 20 years of experience providing advisement and career support in higher education settings. After serving early in her career as coordinator of the Community Office of Legal Assistance (COLA) Project, she accepted a role as internship coordinator for the law firm of Stevens, Hinds & White, PC. Adjua Starks then assumed responsibilities as assistant director of the New York Law School’s Office of Career Services and its Department of Professional Development, where she deepened her experience with pre-professional students.
Subsequently promoted to the post of associate director, while also maintaining the role of public interest coordinator, Adjua Starks created and introduced a newsletter for evening division students and improved student participation in off-campus networking events. She also grew the school's Public Interest Fellowship Program and developed a law career outreach program for enrolled students.
Ms. Starks moved on from this position in 2005 and in the following year became assistant dean of pre-health advising and academic assistance at Barnard College, at which she advised students on professional development in such fields as public health, medicine, dentistry, and nursing. In 2014, she expanded her scope of responsibility to include students interested in the legal profession.
